Brothers Strugatsky
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boris_and_Arkady_Strugatsky
Ever since my father brought home the first Strugatsky book , "Monday Begins on Saturday", I have been a huge fan of all of their works and have read every single one of them many times, memorizing favorite parts and finding new interesting things that i may have missed before. What really bothers me is that not a single screen adoptation of any of their works does them justice. The most famous movie, Stalker done by a famous Russian movie director Andrey Tarkovsky hardly reflects the dynamics of "Piknik" and its heroes' personalities. Same goes for most other movies based on their work. Fast, interesting, exciting books are made into slow, boring movies that fans see only to be disappointed. The problem is not that the fans don't get exactly the same story on the screen as is in the book, thats what directors, screen writers, actors creativity is for, the problem is that for the general masses that will never pick up on of Strugatsky or Asimov, or any good writer books, their opinion of the original writers will be based on the movie and the original work will be lost through Hollywood's or its foreign counterpart's crappy job.

The Da Vinchi Code is a work of fiction!
People! What is going on in the world? Don't any of you know that the Da Vinchi code is a work of fiction? I think that Dan Brown did the same thing with his books that science fiction writers did in the early and mid 20th century, I mean then a lot of people beleived that aliens visit the Earth every weekend and even buy our fruits and vegetables because where they are from, the fruits don't grow and vegetables are way overpriced. Forget about what the guard from the Louvre told us (in one of my previous posts) but I was in a grocery store and they are selling books written by well-known Theologists that actually explain to their readers how Dan Brown is historically incorrect. I mean it's laughable that these people can site the book written by a Greek monarch that lived 2 thousand years ago and take it word for word, and then pick up a novel off the bookshelf and too beleive that the writer tried to create an accurate historical account of Biblical proportions. I think it's absurd to think that and those church leaders that support these pseudo writers are only doing it for money. I think there is a lot of money to be made in the business of trying to dispute the most popular work of FICTION there is right now. Also, I don't see any of these writers try to dispute Mel Gibson for his accurately portraid last days of Jesus Christ in his latest Blockbuster, oh no, Mel got paid almost $500m for this work and when confronted about the autrocities that he published in the movie, his response was something like "I wanted to make it as realistic as possible" (dont quote me on this, get your facts straight somewhere else). Talk about the double standards that are being displayed here. I am furious.
All this being said, I would like to also point out that this country is becoming a Theocracy, where the President won the election based on his religious beliefs. Thats absurd! This country's government was based on the separation of Church and State! That means that the Holy Church cannot influence the government in any way. Well, as everyone can see thats exactly not the way things are turning out.
I don't want to get too political here, (it may be way too late for that) so I will not say anymore about this for now.
